I worked for a MNC here in first few yrs at US (from 2000) and they suck up your Tax return , used to give a worthless health insurance and 'sweat shop' ( this probably a worse word than 'chop shop') like allowance for 12-14 hrs of work . If you do NOT accept that or ASK QUESTION your flight tickets back to origin to will be arranged. I know these practices changed to some extent over a period of time but by that time I left them and started doing things on my own ... :) and i'm very happy since then.
Another thing , I worked for good but medium sized consulting firms with US after leaving those shops ( sweat/chop/body whatever kind u call them) and they do maintain perfect balance - hardly 30-40% is H1B - they pay market salary to the H1B's ,standard health insurance , always got paid if i worked beyond 8-9 hrs ...

I am not supporting this bill in anyway, I hate infy as much as I hate this bill. Remember these companies did not leave any stone unturned, milked the client every possible way and expoilted the employees to the maximum extent. In one another post - VLDRao was saying these companies does the tax filing on behalf the emoloyee, get the refund and again claim that tax in india using double taxation aoivdance treaty.

It is really tricky to come up with a deadline for EB employment. US is set of laws and the law is same for every one it applies. for example:If you not from a retrogressed country you will get your GC even if you start now (before enactment of this bill).
Please know the difference between bill and law. If ever this particular bill becomes law the deadline for any cases filed under previous law will not be rejected, this is as clear as mud, to make the law same for all who applied/pending /approved on the day of enactment!!.:eek:

Also called WPR to highlight the injustice done to legal immigrants by changing the visa bulletin on the day USCIS was supposed accept the I-485.

Glad to see there are people like me on this thread. I came to the US in FEB 1995 as an undergrad. I have an MS today and dropped out of the PHD program (2000) to find a job because of recessions. Survived 3 top-notch companies, recessions, despicable back-stabbing coworkers, unethical and unworkable environment, lay-offs, legal dept messing up my H1b application making me go on unpaid leave (~3wks) without health insurance, filing me under EB3 while applying EB2 for another coworker from a diff country with the same job title, etc etc....my rear end is pretty soar these days and I am beginning to question all this....

Don't get disapointed. The date would retrogress to 2003/2004 very soon. So most of the applicants whose PD is after the cutoff date would not qualify for approvals. As your PD is very old you would be benifitted as you would be current in this case.
This would suck for older priority dates.
My priority date is March, 2002!! Application was delivered to Nebraska on June 15th but the Receipt date is in mid-July.
So all those filers with priority dates after me (did not come across any with PD older than mine) that got their receipt notices before me would jump ahead in line!! Who knows how many years more...
Hopefully they will change their procedure after this fiasco to go by Priority Dates first and then the receipt dates.

One of the most balanced views on this topic I have heard!
I think life inside home is better in India than US. And life outside home is better in US than India. What do you think?
I am only son to my parents (aged 50s). I must go back whenever India sends a man or women to Moon. Just kidding.. Will go back by 201X.
Currently I am in India on a vacation of 45 days. I came to India with lot of enthu after a long gap of 2 years. But as someone said, India cannot be compared with US, outside home. And yea, USA can't be compared to India, inside home :D
I have to postpone the idea of returning for few more years for the following reasons, and yes, I want GC meanwhile.
_ Reasons to stay and stay longer in USA _
1) It's money, honey :D
2) A nice Indenpendant House in Vizag or Hyd. I am long way to get there. You know what I mean.
3) I haven't earned enough to copy & paste my lifestyle in US yet. I mean no car for my dad, no plasma tv in India, no 'retirement' fund for my parents so that they can live on their own. You know the rest.
4) My wife has just _resumed her career on H1B after being seated at home for 3 years on H4. As you can guess, we left hopes on EAD. My PD Nov 05. I would prefer that she work in USA for couple of years, before which we can return.
4) Last, but not least, I want to gather more "onsite" experience and go from programmer analyst to something I want to be, when I return to India.
_ Reasons to go back to India _
I belived in the philosiphy of helping yourself first, then family and then society.
0) Will come back to India to live with my aging parents.
1) Help my society (vote, pay taxes, charity, transfer of ideas from Western World, creation of employment and much more)
2) Enjoy food, movies, language, various cultures of India.
3) Travel world and not just USA - through my IT career.

This is good information to know. If this is the case, then at least once in a year they have to make all the categories current. May be for September every year so that they do not waste any VISA numbers.
Again that depends on the demand vs supply. To have every one approved in EB3 (esp back logged countries), EB1 (All countries), EB2 (All countries) has to be current. Then the extra visas flow down to EB3 (ROW) and to all back logged countries (India, China, etc).
I am still wondering how DOL made all countries current in July bulletin. I think it is mainly due to many Labor Applications in BEC is either replaced by PERM or might not make all the way up to I-485. Many of us 2001 / 2002 filers discussed this theory a lot and did came to the conclusion that such a back log is artificially created as DOL, DOE and USCIS, who does not know exactly how many are there in approvable condition.
That is proved beyond doubt by the July bulletin :)

She said this two times thinking me to take on with surprise with this huge number. Yes, of course I am surprised. Is it only 76K apps by July 27th?
